Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito de la Comunidad de Ciudad Quesada RL (COOCIQUE) is a credit and savings cooperative with more than 100,000 members providing assistance to micro and small entrepreneurs and farmers in northern Costa Rica.

This region is characterized by extensive plains with several protected areas: lakes, rivers, rain forest, and a very famous active volcano Volcán Arenal. Tourism is developing rapidly, with many micro and small entrepreneurs benefiting. Cattle farming and dairy production, and the growing of pineapples, oranges, vegetables and sugarcane are other important activities in this region.

More than half of COOCIQUE’s clients live in rural or peri-urban areas. COOCIQUE offers various types of savings accounts, productive loans for entrepreneurs, farmers and salaried workers, and housing loans.

COOCIQUE provides a number of services to complement its financial products, such as a network of ATMs, banking via internet or telephone and a household appliance store. It also has covenants with major universities which enable clients to get discounted tuition fees, and an agreement with a hospital.
