Promoting rural micro entrepreneurship
Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Cuenca del Lago de Atitlán (ADICLA) is an experienced rural microfinance institution (MFI). The organization is based in the Atitlán basin region with high poverty levels. ADICLA's main target group are micro entrepreneurs in rural areas, who account for almost 70% of the client portfolio. Around 85% of ADICLA's clients are members of the ethnic groups Kakchiquel and Kiché.
ADICLA also runs two non-financial programmes. The first is a community education programme promoting integral development through training and education, supporting local schools and organizing workshops for clients. The other focuses on agricultural community development and trains clients in the use of new production methods to increase productivity and environmental protection.
Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Cuenca del Lago de Atitlán has been an Oikocredit partner since 2008.
