Loan portfolio increase to meet demand from micro enterprises, individuals and community banks

Fundación Génesis Empresarial is a large private development organization which has been active in Guatemala since 1988. In 2014, it had over 90,000 clients, ranging from individuals to micro enterprises and community banks. The organization offers a broad scale of financial products.

Fundación Génesis Empresarial operates nationwide with most branches located in commercially active areas, such as market places. Some 80% of its clients are small market traders or manufacturers.

Oikocredit is supporting this partner with a new loan as it one of the world's leading microfinance institutions (MFIs). The organization is well established, experienced, while financial transparency and social performance have always been high on its agenda. It also provides skills training for micro entrepreneurs in the fields of finance, business development and manufacturing.

This second loan from Oikocredit will enable Fundación Génesis Empresarial to expand its loan portfolio and make a positive social impact on around 6,500 new clients. The loan will also help strengthen the portfolio and create new business opportunities across Guatemala.
