Associación de Cooperativas Argentinas (ACA), founded in 1922, is a second-tier cooperative that provides services to 154 agricultural cooperatives from the Pampas, a fertile region with a high concentration of agricultural producers.

ACA brings together over 50,000 producers and employs 2,969 people (2016). The cooperative's main activities include trading of grains and by-products, free technical counselling and training activities. The beneficiaries have little or no bargaining power for the commercialization of their products, and they thus rely on the cooperative for better marketing opportunities.

Recent studies have shown that poverty afflicts some 30% of Argentinians, with a much higher incidence in rural areas. Rural poverty is mainly due to lack of access to productive resources such as soil, credit, knowledge and new technologies. Many young people in rural areas migrate to the city in search of a better life.
