The non-banking financial company and microfinance institution (MFI) Humana Financial Services Private Limited (HFSPL) was set up by the non-profit organisation Humana People to People India (HPPI), founded in 1998, which works with the public sector, private sector and international funding agencies. HFSPL has been an Oikocredit partner since 2018.
HFSPL currently serves around 1,100 clients (June 2018) via a number of branches in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The company disburses microfinance loans, via Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) of between 10 and 20 members, to low-income women in rural and urban areas.
These loans are commonly used for agriculture-related activities and other income-generating activities such as trade, retail and embroidery.
