Upcoming meeting of Oikocredit with LICADHO, Equitable Cambodia and FIAN Germany in June
On 18-19 June 2024, Oikocredit will come together again with three human rights NGOs, Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (LICADHO), Equitable Cambodia and FIAN Germany, for further dialogue on improvement of Cambodian borrowers livelyhood.
This is part of the process related to the submission made by the three NGOs to the Dutch OECD National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct concerning the alleged negative impacts of some microfinance loans on Cambodian borrowers.
Ahead of the meeting representatives from Oikocredit have been in Cambodia to meet with representatives of the NGOs, partners and end-clients to gather further information on the current situation in the country.
Oikocredit also attended the Cerise+SPTF annual meeting in the Philippines from 4 to 7 June 2024, where the advancement of financial inclusion and client protection with stakeholders from across the sector was discussed.
After nearly fifty years of experience in the microfinance sector, the international cooperative remains committed to investing in financial inclusion. In Cambodia, Oikocredit continues to support responsible financial inclusion through its work with carefully selected local partner organisations. This collaboration with local partners is based on the commitment to improving lives of economically disadvantaged people through access to responsible financial services.
